Sleep Quiz
This quiz talks about various aspects of sleep. I scored 15 out of 22. At the end of the quiz, the results are shown, and there is an explanation for each right/wrong answer. I learned a lot from this quiz, and I recommend taking it. I learned about sleeping disorders (there are 81 known), ideal sleeping conditions, and more. I did not know what sleep apnea or parasomnia was before taking the quiz. I also did not know that sleep-eating disorders existed. A person's risk of diabetes increases by 50% if they only get 5 hours of sleep a night. There are other impressive statistics and tips for sleeping that you should see.
Sleep, Good Health and Happiness - Is There a Connection?
Experts say that people are at their peak performance and are generally healthy with 7-9 hours of sleep. Teens need at least 8.5-9.25 hours of sleep, and their internal biological clocks keep them awake later and keep them sleeping till later. Sleep deprivation can lead to many health problems, like obesity, negative mood and behavior, and high blood pressure. There is a definite link between quality and quantity of sleep and a number of health problems. Lack of sleep can lead to hypertension and cardiovascular problems. As people get older they need less sleep, but it is still recommended that people sleep for 7-9 hours if possible. During sleep, the body rests, and brain "recharges." We usually drift between two sleep states, REM (rapid eye movement) and Non-REM. Sleep is very important, and it can be very bad for a person if they do not get enough. This article scares me because I rarely get 7-9 hours of sleep. Sometimes on the weekend.
